Vacation 2007-Snowy Range of the Rocky Mountains-Wyoming

The Snowy Range of the Rocky Mountains is west of Laramie, Wyoming and is a beautiful scenic drive. Most of the images in this gallery were taken near Medicine Bow Peak. Many of the images in this gallery are panorama's created by blending multiple images to recreate the scene as it was when I took the pictures.

This observation platform is in front of Medicine Bow Peak and the view from it is spectacular in all directions. On a clear day the mountains of Rocky Mountain National Park are even visible.

This observation platform is in front of Medicine Bow Peak and the view from it is spectacular in all directions. On a clear day the mountains of Rocky Mountain National Park are even visible.

  • OOPS! We missed our turn and had to take a very nice scenic drive through the hills, on a gravel road, to get back to the road we should have been on. This is one of the views we had as we drove through open range.
  • Another view on our open range drive.
  • Pronghorn were everyplace as we drove through Wyoming. There was seldom a time when we went for more than 5 minutes without seeing them.
  • We finally made it to the Snowy Range! It snowed the day before so there was some fresh snow on the ground.
  • This observation platform is in front of Medicine Bow Peak and the view from it is spectacular in all directions. On a clear day the mountains of Rocky Mountain National Park are even visible.
  • Medicine Bow Peak was partially obscured by fast moving clouds.
  • A pretty mountain pond was visible from the observation platform.
  • These trees say it all about the wind. The wind blows from the same direction pretty much 24/7 and so hard that the limbs can only grow on the side protected by the tree trunk.

  • Somebody looks a little cold! The temperature was in the low 30's with a very strong wind. I don't know what the wind chill factor was but it had to be below zero. I LOVE IT!

  • The wind wasn't too bad once I got behind the hill. I could have spent all day here. It was cold, beautiful and I had my camera. It doesn't get much better than that!
