Mount Capulin National Monument
Mount Capulin is an extinct volcano in northeastern New Mexico and is a nice break from driving. We drove to the parking lot on the west rim and then hiked the trail around the rim-approximately 1 mile long. On a clear day it is possible to see, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, and of course New Mexico from the top of the rim.
